I see plenty of buildings in Medellin that are potential base jumps. I’ve spied most of them form the metro, but I haven’t had a chance to properly check them out.
I’ve been working on getting a job teaching English. After I went to talk to the head of an institute, I was making my way back to the metro, and I decided to check out a building that was under construction.
I started walking through a neighborhood near the Alpujarra and Exposiciones metro stations. It seems like the business areas around Medellin have ‘themes’ for the neighborhood. This area was all for motorcycle sales and repair. They were working on the bikes in the street, and there was a huge variety of motorcycle gear.
As I approached the building that was under construction, I noted a few other buildings in the area that could be possible jumps. One in particular caught my eye because all the windows were opened, and it looked very accessible. When I got to the building, I found out it’s some kind of government building. It has a perfect landing area, and it’s one of the tallest buildings in the area. I’m going to have to ask around to see how to get into that building.
I continued to the building that was under construction. As I had thought, the landing area was just the road, which is pretty small, with a few power lines running along it. The access would be really easy. I’m going to take someone with me next time, so I can take a better look.
Finally, I saw a parking garage that could be a great jump. The access is extremely easy, but I’m not sure if it’s tall enough.
I’ll be visiting Guatape to check out El Peñol, which many people tell me could be jumpable. Looking at pictures, I don’t think it has a face that is sheer enough, but I’m excited to look at it.
